Wailing Birds
Grace, is unmerited favour, from God. Undeserved and unable to be earned. Whatever in this world that's of God, maybe unrecognised or fully acknowledged, could be described as common grace.
This goes on to become the Universalist's hope, i.e. those who believe we all get to God in the end, unless utterly 'determined otherwise'. Many with this view suggest this isn't realistically possible, i.e. turning God down and assume this includes the unrepentant, way-wicked and upfront, monster-types. That, or into post-death hopes, and 'they do'.
Those not aware of this 'Jesus' or able to understand, yet -- add here my throw-in to increase Universalist validity -- through the Cross and Spirit, receive Christ, in or before, those re-awaking moments after physical death on earth.
This less than certain Biblical line and therefore expectation, rests on the same basis that we cannot lose consciousness because we're already of eternal make-up. The outworking, is the language of conscious suffering, read as a literal description of our never-ending being.
Two poles of thinking that generally rest on the predetermined view of life.
Therefore; God made us for-ever and undoubtedly, loving grace, will win all/or thereabouts -or- God cannot take to be with those consciously 'unredeemed', those refusing the provision of the new life, the one for all-time-ahead.
Two theologies positing the collapse of time, seeing God as outside a progressive unfolding of linear reality. A weak assumption, based on a handful of texts not specifying the bigger picture, while a whole Biblical narrative describes God in, and never other than having a past, present and future.
Time in God or God in time -- doesn't matter in the mystery, which held. But time not for God, is the great historical post-400AD screw-up. No surprise the contemporary non-Christian line is often dismissive, time or choices are genuine. While hip-religio circa 2017, is insistant on alternate realities, dimensions and simulated perceptions.
Becoming dwellers in the alternate threshold to come -- note; physical at that -- wasn't my intended blab this morn. More about grace as a movement, a driving intuitive and drawing out incentive to reach somewhere. God does reveal the need to consider future living but the overwhelming emphasis is meet God here now.
Moving toward God and an encounter and confirmation becoming a directly requesting recipitant for more of the working of this grace. Knowing God.
Knowing God is a moving dynamic and getting who this mover is.
Somehow the 'universe bends' as people like to say, but really they mean God-in, and in this, through the principle and power of grace.
Wailing birds arc across the sky to other lands. May have pea-size or a little larger brain capacity but there's grace-given attributes that combine with the natural elements all leading them to warmer climates. To specific locations.
We have this grace-getter, called the imaging of God in humankind. A homing device and Sun-like calling.
Grace can be cheapened (famously defined through Dietrich Bonhoeffer), or is costly, in our appreciation and ever sought for. The purpose intended is direction. More, deeper, fuller and stronger in our growing awareness of weakness and need.
Seeking takes a Bible and -- if have -- vocal chords. Desire and sincerity. Just hava flippin' go...
Read/talk/read/talk and this appreciation becomes application. Grace apprehended and known.
Unlike 'birds' we're not here to nest and rest, feed and mate -- alone. Grace is to do battle. Not necessarily in being enemy-conscious but in the liberation of the suffering and like praying, in expressing truth to power.
The Gospel is an awakening to what's happening in this world and our personal lives; and the desperate and urgent call on God for help, presence, power, revelation, resources and outreach.
Grace up.
