The Velvet Underground - Heroin
Jack, died.
[17:53] On/off, and kick-off, now, 8pm.
I am still a young boy
Though my body's growing old
I am older than the saviour
And the greatest story ever told
:
Lonely in a cafe
Staring at an empty plate
In the sorrow of the traffic
I felt my mind disintegrate
:
(Invisible woman)
'Glory be upon you
As the river rounds the bend
Through the wood of Sycamore
Where the colours darkly blend'
:
I am still a young man
Though my body's getting old
I am older than the saviour
And the greatest story ever told
:
I caught my hand in tangled briar
As I reached out for my name
And now I suffer in the forest
From the injuries of fame
:
(Invisible woman)
'Glory be upon you
As you walk into the sea
Let the water close behind you
In your brine eternity'
:
I am still a young man
Though my body's growing old
I am older than the saviour
And the greatest story ever told
:
(Invisible woman)
'Glory be upon you
As they lay you in the earth
I know that you can hear me singing
The song before your lonely birth'

Tap-tap-tap...
So many things to ...write about.
FROM the start.
For all the 'benefits' recreational drugs might bring... on balance, is 'crap'. Rubbish, waste, deceptive, and tends towards 'pause' not 'forward'. As with other compulsive habits, it shifts expectation. A holiday is a holiday. Doing 'dope' etc., from 'cannabis to coke' regularly, tends to turn to 'daily' consumption.
The daily 'expectation'.
Chemicals cause thresholds to change depending on use. The 'highs' or 'stimulation', decreasing, once the body-clock adjusts. Knows what's coming and the lessening of our perceived 'boost' or 'relaxation'.
Once upon..., 'the alternative crowd' and their 'cheap thrills' was a small 'all-seen' set.
In the late 70s; one pub in every town, had 'druggies' for drinkers. The hippies, then 'punks', viewed people as 'straights' -and- people who, 'turned on'. Romantic and rock 'n roll, so it seemed. Dangerous, the 'drug squad' were busy going undercover in pubs, busting parties. Drugs weren't sold or seen on the streets and socials. It was underground, a network defined by clothing and culture.
By the late-80s it was two or three pubs, in every town.
Today, the 'hip-sounding 'alternative' is not..., to use 'drugs'?
Meeting a non-user and/or, non-'big-drinker' is a more interesting profile, assuming they're younger, or have good reason, 'why they don't drink/do drugs'?
Immediate removal of all sorts of risks.
No drugs, or irregular, and moderate use that's not-problematic.
Second best, if possible. Much sought after: Trouble-free drug or alcohol use.
"That'll be the day".
