Until He Returns
From tomorrow/next one, must start always including something previous, a quote from an oldie and recycle the blab. Know I've done Joel – and this generally helping, catch my over-repetition. Need to.
Supposed to be hearing God but along the way (“while we're waiting...”) bang the theo and street-like preach out. Consider these hardly-read – not that I'm monitoring numbers/don't look at stats – as evangelism. Maybe?
If I could pick one ideal(istic) enterprise it would be street-preaching. Bag full of tracts and a beer-crate. Into the woods to pray, town centre to holla.
Joel? This is a book.
Locusts all over the place, invasions – Assyrians and Babylonians – on the way.
Then or let – the Lord was…
Knowing God wants to do, more than we could ever want, is the basis for communicating to God. While secondly, charging the unseen/entities with our voice and words.
Not all is done.
We're told, to pray that God's will, would be done, on earth. Respect to those who follow Augustine etc on this but those having the view, 'tomorrow's all-known without room for manoeuvre', (or somehow is, but/don't ask me how?) – obviously (can) find much motivation to pray.
But – why is it, that there seems so little Joel-like, publicly called-for, action?
If it isn't Calvinism ('follow Augustine etc') causing, what is it? Not seeing the coming invasion? What?
Years back, people like Leonard Ravenhill wrote books about Joel-like historical prohetic-ones and those who'd ached-up. Regardless these old soldiers held theology, we've rightly 'light'ened-up on today. While wrongly chucked some.
Yet the contemporary most conspicuous cry: Where are the prophets?
Is this a time for polite social care? A moderate move love-wards? There's call and need for some of that – not without merit. But turn us back from a holocaust?
Think of Berger's words: ‘We live in a literal prison’.
This doesn't mean whole world under… and devil, devil, devil – all people, so-all bad, etc etc; therefore, bunker-up and wait for the storms and destruction? This corresponding prison, is only constructed because – we allow this-to-be.
Joel doesn't say, God sits back and let us watch, what? But God is… and we can…
Damned 'last-days speculating' aside, there are some who make an intercessory meal over solutions but they do so insist on answered prayer fitting into their particular blueprint ahead. Therefore, their faith is in a Biblical interpretation of Book of/Revelation, Israel, anti-Christ this or that…
Faith in futurism-visions, not – ultimately – God alone. And the desperate struggle, which God promises humanity will overcome, somehow-someday.
And a by-product of last-day-ing; “won't wake-up/admit to true-news and history” because…? Aspects appear to challenge or contradict (our) theological interpretations.
Joel had an interpretation but it was local and relatively imminent AND; dependent, conditional, open and with possibilities and promises. And yes, was reapplied at the birth of the Church. Those 'last days' we're still 2000 years later in.
Somehow... (need to study and pray more over this), we cause God to become, in this case described as 'zealous', over people.
This isn't God-wasn't and now we've persuaded an unpersuasive One but – using Young's (translation) – 'let' as a bridge-into; we participate with God in the process needed to be undertaken.
We've enabled God to do what God, become human and die-for, to achieve.
Stop here this morn.
God is zealous for us. God wants that zeal manifest to become the fulfillment in justice and truth. There's something about the necessity – possibly inability otherwise – to be the consistent enabler without coercion. That the trust in humanity, in God/with God, will be fulfilled. Promises made.
Principalities will be defeated because God has promised, we will rise up and reign on earth, as in heaven.
