This is Humility
And Mark being humbled, God –
What – does God go away?
Last weekend misbehaved more obviously. Did God – by my side, in my spirit – disappear, turn-away somehow?
What does God do, as we do… stuff, wrong? Not that last weekend was such an epic groaner of an error. And if I looked at every, even better days, they're all full of half-arsed and lacking ways. Compared to what God could rightfully expect. Does.'Expect' not the best word,' yearn, ache, call, see-can, could, does, leads toward understanding our depths but knows we can be super-peeps.'
So what can or should I do? How do any of us, therefore, manage to survive? Do we heap up all our troubles for the next/life? Whatabout, whatabout?
The Lords anger turned from him and he (Rehoboam/Judah/King) was not destroyed, indeed... And on to the good things. Some.
God suffers a lot of self-justifiable F-you. The world is… quick-as, how could 'a God' get on my case that much? Mitigation because of the madness. Take (our) chances with the crowds.
On this, on the way to half the world and people groups, have never 'heard the Gospel'. Nada. “Jesus”? Be like saying porcupine or ice-cream to those who've never seen? Unimaginable. Maybe a small 2% among them have a grasp or proper-ish believe but the gobbledy otherwise?
In many ways. Knowing about the 'Jesus who isn't' and only in name, is the hindrance and bolder over the door.
Add, in Britain say, the message of Jesus is sufficiently misunderstood by the multitudes to be a glimmer at best, what God's about. Mostly 'not a bit like'. Forget fine details but a complete anathema, concerning the face of God in Christ. Far removed and utterly unlike.
“What do you believe?” Not me. That. Not me, Mr make a song and dance about believing."My lover and friend, father, mother, patient, kind and miraculous-bearing one – isn't like 'you' say".
Recently commented somewhere how much more anti – this other-gospel – I am, than any detractor.
Makes sense outsiders should hate the God portrayed by much traditional 'Christian' thinking. And/or the pop t.v. Jesus the wimpy sham. Or, the perception those hard-core Believers, reckon on some opposite hard-man, waiting to give us all a good kickin'.
Jesus light or heavy? Jesus all accepting, or all..? For those dismissive there's any possible reality to this, likely have a non-theology, “why, even if…”
And, so – “no”.
“And if you think those namby-pamby Christians have got anything to say otherwise by their mouthing or doing?” Occasional shrug at sacrificial kindness out of compassion but that's us. In the corner. Ramped-up on a sky-god from a story-book.
World over shouts, “so what?” That what. Maybe be nice and earn favour but nothing to forgive.
Response:
God cannot be other than is. Unlike us. There's a consistency in a love beyond measure that is so… unimaginably strong and true, that we'd be destroyed in this light of lights. God is. That's what. God unapproachable and yet, God wants us. Close as. Christ resolves. We ten thousand times ten… come and go, come and go. All of us. Every human, unknowingly or otherwise. God drawing in, calling, seeking, leading, moving etc. All for connection and consummation. A merging in transcendent union. That life and one dying man, 2000 years ago, can be freely taken-on power, comes presence. Re-positions us. And opens a door. The difference becomes evidence. Word alive and communication, switched on. We are loved and get to know.
Response x2: Humble and see.
Making this a quickie. Have little to say. No written prayer and no links to previously written. Have some prepping to do. Spent/spend my life writing notes all the time, barely ever re-read. Sometimes throw hours and... away in a passing glance over. Now, think I should drag my ambivalent eyes over what I've written these months and recycle some. Quote and re-comment. (Maybe I should comment on my own posts. Perhaps argue ?)
'Humility' is a book of a subject. The lack thereof, the big problemo. God can't reach us if we don't want to let. The only qualification is poverty. Riches sufficient, we do without. Chasing comfort and now, more… more…
We are here. God is here. Talk-up.
