Theological Lens
Some take that they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching as ...the New Testament. Another view and one I accept, bring us back to the actions and words around the twelve Apostles and the Gospels.
From there, reckoning Genesis to Revelation is all the word of God when reading in light of this... 'apostles’ teaching'. All the books and verses as God-enables can be as relevant and important. While it's more about the application and how we receive, what for and why?
We can have these tools of the trade for life but do what, 'with' them?
The world we live in gets shaped by prophecy -- note; not the spectate Revelation etc blueprint kind -- and prayer. I.e. Almost any kind that's sincere and attentive and effort-full.
To get what's going? -- the emphasis, is Jesus' holds the keys to all understanding. The filter and sifter. Bullshit-detector. Umpire/referee etc. Yet, isn't one standing back and absent -or- in meticulous control.
Involved and direct, as far as can, depending on what we do -- or not, which can be and most often is decisive and critical. Ever wanting us and up-to engage as constant as we desire. With God's Spirit, if invited, within -- for stirring up and relighting our fires of devotion and fight.
Engineering here and there around and about us. Some moves working and happening, others missed. All without taking away our freedom to will. All truth centralised in that one act of death, the nexus and fulcrum of the battles and purpose for reality.
The word that most describes the intention is love. The outworking is a clash and overcoming of evil and this through our connection with God, here -and- now.
Communion is a good word. To commune. To take the bread and wine on the regular or near-on daily isn't such a crazy move -- add that.
OK-D. Always good to re-express the baselines. On this must bash out a thought of a seed and dash.
Go with: We cannot expect to not struggle beyond what should if we don't get on the mission. Of course, if asked ("if only..." eh?) would explain, why most of the qualms that God's like this or that/so-supposed Bible says, aren't so. Would talk of the accessible and willing one if only come to me.
Thing is -- without-mission, i.e. unseen social-leading action, the weeds grow up and as Jesus calls it 'sleep'.
Might as well 'eat drink and be merry, for tomorrow'. Little difference how and whatever way we 'bury the treasure' and found wanting. Tipping into indulgent me-centred has traditional -- and progressive -- evangelical, versions. Let alone, liberal ways.
Sidenote; Orthodoxy and Catholicism, or any other bunch, are on this one-grab of a spectrum. And all this "we... are the Church" is some later-concluded invention.
and they were continuing stedfastly in the teaching of the apostles, and the fellowship, and the breaking of the bread, and the prayers.
Period. End of. The one and only final description of those, being... church. The verb: To church. In the invisible body. A never-defined organisation, not an outcome of over the centuries-later squabbles.
OK-doke. Take 2: To round up and press through some positions. What's 'mission' is interesting.
One ring-a-ding obvious is how truther-crowds get missioned-up over the place of internet-info. Watched a Brendon O'Connell slam-all recently, where he showed an old geezer yonks back. Man held a placard and handouts. Brendon mocked the over-reliance on the internet. Gave a sarcastic explanation about printing A4's and "how revolutionary". Tend to agree.
Back to try tie up Apostles Teaching, designed-for-mission and considerable "the net" madness'?
For a start, all this collywobbles about access to social media platforms and "if only we have access" etc. etc.
Take note of the what happened and evangelism explosion across, say, the US and UK? It's not about more exposure = more reaction and results.
It's about...
A question buried for the most part in assumptions; About more web-based communication.
And as for Truther talk or this Nationalist appeal -- it's ALL about more of the same, which has achieved..?
Yep, some and some takers but the mechanism itself is not only limited but a feedback loop among the few who do it. On the streets -- ok, in the sauna -- where I live, no one watching/listening. And yet... this the way.
Scooted about and run out because it's time-up. No tie up but DIY, if y'like?
Hope you... get chatty to God. Somehow get to want to repeat and re-read the book.
The mission -- is alone. When the real material breakthrough world action stations begin.
