Standing On That Sea Of Glass Like Crystal
First two minutes. Rewind; Misty Edwards sings her songs, ‘When You Think of Me'. Yeah.
Charismatic Church Worship is an unusual glimpse into God appearing real. Scenes of sincere abandonment and the perceived presence of God. Without the effort to project something. Not for the crowd. Not an audience but communal ritual.
Likely wobbles a non-participator. While hopeful heart-open ones find conviction. This steady outpouring of recorded chorus-sung worship, a persuasive portal to God.
For me, very much some and some. Can identify with how awkward it might seem with most sing-ups online. Although, not difficult to find, accessible examples with the ring of authentic engagement. To my eyes and ears.
Could feel too intimate an act to look upon, yet somehow allows for viewing and/or hearing. For me, going heart-along with. Building and stirring. A vehicle to give over to God. For God to move upon me.
What a sight? People looking as though they've found a dynamic experience and God. Young-ish and normal-looking. Embracing into the knowing and the unseen-person of God. Loss of self-conscious cares. Unashamed desires for.
Would grate upon cynics. And yes, cause cries from non-Charismatics of style over substance. Emotion assuming-God present, when perceiving not. Reckon would need to imply condoning of said disliked-theology.
Moaners and groaners. In the vain pursuit of exposing error and heresy hollering. Yabba gabba and another earnest warning. As this one expression of contemporary Christianity grows, so the volume from detractors.
Do I agree with this and that local churches theology? Essentials, by and large, do -- the rest, lots of 'ain't me'. Does theology matter? To a point.
Does right-attitude matter? Always. How we deal with differences between those claiming Christ, a sure barometer. In other words, we should do open discussion across divides but few do. Smug and adversarial is the way. Naming names and spitting crit.
Again, there's crit and crit. Discern when and how takes careful measure. Coming on like a righteous prophet takes love and compassion or clangs. To be angry and not sin, requiring immense maturity and leading.
The parables were self-selecting. Heart open got them. Closed? Easy to dismiss. Don't care so much about the bickering critics inside the 'church'. Am interested how the seeker might stumble on and react.
Still, don't think Evangelical Church is easy to negotiate. Well, it isn't and there are lots of reasons best aired and why. But the singing and rocking along are good purposes -- at best. The downside is the bubble-thinking and lack of openness and challenges to theological assumptions.
As for world vision? Oh la la.
Plus, few works-well meetings and the few spaces. With the vast majority, where it stumbles and deflates.
All m'saying, is thank God for the sincere and sounds accompanying. Showing something of the grace-filled wanting to commune with us -- the Holy One.
God you are our song and dance/only this magnificent/a wonder you stick with us/faithful one/be present/we see Jesus/we want to see Jesus more/and let not our hearts go-troubled unless what you would have us share in/take our lives and make good/you did all we need/the cross/centre of revelation and all provisions worth having/we have no fear that your help to have courage and stand doesn't suffice/for open surprises/discerned and received from/we await your presence and power/the word makes us whole and complete/in Christ
PS Posted a v.rare for me acknowledge mention and thank you on their vid. They deleted it. And thanks to God and signs following they do. No doubt protect their wobbly flock from my dangerous talk. Which sadly shows their vulnerabilities and naivety. Must nag and add. 'Progressives' are just as bonkers fear-full. And me? Bless them and groan with compassion for. No wonder revival tarries. And why there's no need to communicate with Christians. Becoming open and awake will take increasing tribulation. For new pockets of prayer to birth, for those... open and...
