Sacrifice And The Day
Jesus doesn't always sound so sensible. Unlike say, Jordan Peterson. Who extracts meaning from the Bible towards better mental health and social living. What we do now, the cost and benefits tomorrow. A recurring theme and Sacrifice, from his colossal 'Biblical Series'.
Has many lines to bring better ways. Likely Jesus agrees with much of his application of insight. While hearing claims, lead some people God-ward.
Much though, assumes normalcy bias and a level of political ambiguity. Aka 'being asleep'. For relative peacetime, which we have/ish in the UK -- but for how long?
Jesus speaks of an all-overwhelming mission. A war fought through engagement with God. Not peace/yet, times. To love God and others, give up our lives for the 'good news'.
In context, calling for an unconventional psychological etc. strategy of reckless abandonment. With the plea to; Be not therefore anxious for the morrow... Get material light -- and GO.
Jesus met the first lot and they left their nets. Now off into the valleys and onto the demons. Heal the sick and raise the dead. To leave their backpack. Tent. Money. What next?
Tomorrow isn't a consideration, it's all about now/current 24 hours -and/or- unseen/eternity.
Injunctions and building for a better tomorrow -- Peterson-like wisdom -- is for civvy street. God's call is for prepetual revolution in the foreboding crisis.
Not on The News, tells us times/like/this is 'short'. The Bible says God's mission determines reprieve from collective decline and fall.
When in Springtime when Kings went out to war... David, stayed home. God worked good out of his adultery and murder but not a leading to follow. The moral here; not in the fight, dangerous vulnerability to debauchery.
M'burning bridges and wanton sabotaging future provision influences this post/message. Again, not right and grieves but informs, sacrifice and the day, from now on.
Tomorrow -- or yesterday for that matter -- "what's this?"
Be with Jesus, long to be, near and need. Know this, Next day? -- So what. Work to pray. Future thinking is vain fantasy. Unless, of course, God gives a word about.
Battle in the silence with the book and a pen to scribble with. This what. Back to 'sensible' thinking? Where's the prudence and preparation?
Sacrifice, now for now. With faith the need -over- life well-done in the world's eyes. Reap sown sensible.
Enough for the day. Physical and embodied. Acts of faith. Addressed to The Disciples and for all to follow if so want.
Only take a staff/walking stick. To help us move. As for all other considerations? What's the concern? God will do.
