The name for conscious reggae is 'roots and culture' but spun here and the question; What is one and the other? Roots like a tree, where to and what for -and- culture, how does this matter, or not?

Decided to include a song or piece of music per post. Worship-ish, or at least a meditation toward and about God. Suppose could include reggae but likely not. Rasta... can be sincere and open seeking. Yet have mixed feelings, having known many adherents first-hand and lived among.

The associated music, assumed synonymous with the faith is a misunderstanding. Can be a form and vehicle for devotion but home-based rituals are with hand-held drums and chants. Same as the weed? Supposed to be for 'church' meets, not domino's and socialising.

Reggae is the only recognised-exceptional modern art form banging on about God. Circa 1974 to about 82 is the cannon. Gospel Music around the same era, might have a case but nothing so universal and hip as 'roots music'.

Culture? To the unseen words and meanings matter but there's ambivalence about culture. In that they're perceived by the heart and intent and this transcending aesthetics. A Bach man myself but go with some of the contemporary choruses. Because like the old Mackeson ad went; "looks good, tastes good and by golly it does y'good".

Moreover claims in the Bible, songs can be a silencer to evil. While drawing into God and like speaking in unknown languages, builds up and keeps us right on.

Can be an overworked muscle leaving the limping about otherwise. With the most working aspect of collective Charismatic Christianity is the sing-a-long.
