Drake — Nonstop
Most Jewish people don't believe God is for real. Once someone does – and add fame into the mix – a lot of people are watching and want pleasing, or there's a protest. Unless someone's set on a more thorough, anti –or– pro-Zionist stand, the balancing is prone to heat.
The recent attempt to quip about Israel and the word itself has 'struggle' about it. Shows he cannot have understood the sensitivities and anger from some of his bro's and sistren.
DJ Khaled, a Palestinian, and collaborator would walk away if Drake continued talking about the Is. Govt. All the enemy and not into associating with anyone collaborating. What seemed genuine and showed promise was Drake's response to a chat with supermodel Gigi Hadid. He said afterwards:
Gigi taught me so much about what the Palestinian people have gone through. I really began to think critically about my views on the conflict.
While she chimed back; I really learned a lot about the Zionist narrative, Drake really helped me see the other side of the story
Openness, as and when, is about as critical an attitude for truth as it gets. Talking up that Palestinians and Israelis should form friendships with one another in order to form better understandings. More right moves and can't say fairer than that.
As for:
Prayed, then I prayed again (Amen, Lord)
Had a moment but it came and went
— gives me an excuse to preach a bit? Who knows what Drake meant, or it could be storytime and artistic licence to puzzle and play.
The question it begs is if that moment came and went – why? And what is it about the seeker and a find?
One of the choruses from Bethel – a local church, famous for its contemporary worship – begins:
Unreserved, unrestrained/Your love is wild, Your love is wild for me/It isn't shy, It's unashamed/Your love is proud, to be seen with me/You don't give Your heart in pieces/You don't hide Yourself to tease us.
Sound theology. God's not a teaser. So how come Drake didn't write: Prayed, then I prayed again (Amen, Lord. Had a moment and... was knocked off my feet?
Are there any big stoppers?
Yes, and Drake has them all:
One is money. Lots and more is by far the worst of all possible scenarios. Have it and love it so... what to say? The issue isn't the numbers and how many and material purchases. It's a love thang. It's a relationship and for God, it's like wanting a lover for life but keeping a muse on the side. Will you marry me but on Friday night I'll be giving myself to another? Is that sweet?
The best thing that can happen to a rich man is to lose a whole lot, if not all. The world is screaming it is madness to suggest it would be the richest of manoeuvres. Or, how about, all the cars and mansions, fashion and enterprise are being a total loser?
Must resist getting on Kanye but elements in his life produced a perfect storm. Quick aside: Lost fortunes – although Kim is a third of a billionaire – was a stroke of luck. The failure associated – more fantastic ground for God. Then the onslaught and rejection, (it's all getting better and better). And in that 'moment' and on another shopping trip, the store manager invited him to a local church.
Presume Kanye welcomed the acceptance, love and get prospective, deeper peace. Off he trots.
Next month will do Kanye and the latest. Bound to be looking for the only–something bigger than himself and the media circus he inhabits. What or who, could that be now?
Will throw in two aspects that are the best chance for an encounter? Worship. The single most convicting space and sound for action. While note the clothing Kanye and his Sunday Service regulars wear? Plain and simple in style and a kind of uniform narking Kanye on the level. He must love being somewhere, someone–else is the centre of attention. No one is that... impressed with some beat–making rapper. A lover of God is something else and shifts perspectives in the incomparable presence of God.
Back to Drake. So money – and/or – God gets the primary care. Drake gets to choose.
The second moment–robbing posture is spelt out in the next no-no:
I'm a unforgivin' wild-ass dog nigga.
Sure tough guy but kiss goodbye seeking to know the God who forgives.... if we're not into reciprocating and other people. Again, Kanye-watching noted an apology on social media to Drake about something. A sure sign he's not mucking about.
The final couple of shut-down –or– opening dynamics, are around desire and desperation. Twin wings. Higher the felt–need for reality and knowing/discovering, if... God is here and about – more, the way to break through and connect.
And finally – something Drake is all about – and... words. If we use words. Not some idea is the 'right ones' but the sincere and heartfelt, so we engage.
Drake does a bit of this and some of that on the religious etc. front. Makes sense in covering bases and the widest fan-based reach. This when starting at the bottom but now he's top of the premier division and all the cups are his. What's to care? Only his friends and crew must count and opinions.
Talks of 'the man upstairs' hearing his daily chats–towards. But why would Drake want God? He's one happy superstar. Full up and has need of..?
Who knows.
There are some promising indications. The lack of moderation and sheer lust for the next toy is building for a bumper-hitting conclusion. The lack of satisfaction and ever-diminishing thresholds will hit someone quicker.
Would say Drake might be the free mover and own man around his foundational aspirations. He likes opposition, a bit of flak would help. Reconciled to the hilt and a visit to Kanye – assuming rolling on/as is – could be a trigger. Best chance are some voices and people try to warn off and dissuade the consideration.
He says the woman who can be a dynamic other–half and share all, no-sap of a wife is the big one. Meet a Christian for real and he will have all the room to get on with it. In fact, if he does meet Mrs. Drake it'll be more idolatry or some alternative other –or– the marriage and a new way ahead?
Would be a crazy outcome if Kanye doesn't get sidetracked, defies a whole heap of new detractors and finds a steady path.
The church leader he's a buddy with seems reasonable. Not quite where I'm at in some aspects but got more than enough and in the bits that matter in love and grace leading... that'll do.
The only real matter, or not, is are the likes of these stars of the show able to ride the fuss and moaners weighing in to mock.
The next line could suggest Drake gets this:
(They don't love you no more) You don't wanna play with him (nah, nah, nah).
Justin Bieber might be the other Drake link in. He seems as real and on it, as it goes.
Do these 'names' matter? Yes and no.
The reason why Kanye is getting into Jesus was; a praying mother/family/friends, and a bloke in a clothes shop. The other element is no–one is a necessity to appease.
Kanye and Drake are rare in gone–beyond people-pleasing to progress.
Next time on Kanye and 'Can't tell me nothing'.
Seems to be the case. Although that's what the song has reversed up and answered.
As for Drake? Who he meets and what he allows discussion and honesty about is all for the taking. He has a deep sentimentality and compassion about family. The diamonds can't be grabbing the heart as first did. The drugs can't be quite as special an event. It's all levelling off apart from performing and friendships.
To finish and forgot to note on the Truthscoop post. Got Ian Crane and Gregory Isaacs to squeeze in some time/somewhere.
As for Bethel? Let the music play and get on and write about... soon/please God.
