Oh how I miss the old world. Fake terror seems a distant memory. Gone are the days when an old fashioned beheading would start the day.

Like any good treasure hunt, we would pour over the clues trying to find little easter eggs. A shoe lying in the road, the time or date magically adding to 33, a crisis actor spotted in 3 other matinées, a manifesto uploaded to the internet or just a plain old fuzzy and shaky video.

Perhaps we need a campaign to: #BRINGBACKTERROR. I wistfully remember a time when fake terror events and strange goings on were the oxygen in my lungs and the domain of conspiracy nuts.

Fast forward to October 2020 and believing Covid is a psyop or conspiracy is the mainstream mumblings in every local pub. Oh wait, they're shut. It's the works canteen gossip...... Eh they're shut too.

Whatever. Let's all welcome this fake terror event warmly. It is a pleasant distraction and could be a long awaited sign things are returning to normal.

Does it matter if the church survives in the West then?

Jesus uses the word “church” two or three times in the Gospels; his passion is the Kingdom of God, which is a state of being, a culture of life, hope and liberation. The church is here to be the agency of the Kingdom of God. Insofar as the church does that, it’s really important that it survives; to be this institution that struggles to survive for its own sake, no, I don’t think that matters much at all.

Dave is a Calvinist. Most Christians are, I'm not. He was a 'Charismatic', I remain one. Turning into the 90s in UK Evangelicalism two lots of outliers began to appear: A Pub-like gathering, and discussions and arts; Holy Joes in Brixton. From that came a small Festival called 'Harry'.

For all, alternative, and Church, the participants; it was 'Church' without, the reasons young and arty, "stopped going".

The Charismatic Ch., brought many into its sing-along and sermons from the front.

In the 90's came the ol' in-out. Simultaneous, growth, and leavers.

Dave and co., dumped the awkward sentimental-sounding singing, any, singing. Sermons had longer Q&A's with frank and daring debates and reflections. The Charismatic ways, deconstructed.

Donald Reeves a liberal vicar taught me the idea: 'firm centre, soft outside.'

The 'essentials' of evangelicalism are rock solid claims, the rest are secondary issues. Dave and crowd, found a space to explore and an aim: not, be intellectual jokers.

First time I've heard him talk in two decades.

Gentle, alarming, natural, open, and funny. Begins about Peter Tatchell, met once, and a considerate man. Recent stands for Free Speech impressed me, but here's my Peter/Dave struggle:

Diversity of opinion within Christianity is reality, and tests our individual, standing. The argument goes; the subjects that divide us, are to be understood and accepted, if not in-agreement.

Responses, and disagreeing with the holders of alternative views, range:

Helpful to compare and consider; 'all-one-in', —requires, 'theology', and theories, are kept in 'perspective', and the priority is Bible-for-living; ...matters, but "mustn't cause division";

Question the alt. lot's standing with God?; Call them outright heretics; Mission to moan and spit, against, said, alternative, lot.;

and the list could, go on?

The rabble rouser, doing the doors for Jesus, checking on ID. Or, how about Customs, checking your accounts? Or,...on a conquest.

2019 and, in-other-words: Put people off, 'Bethel' (church)/tell "our" people, we want/need, to hear... you, protest, and... "Come..., Out,,, Of..., Them."

Calvinists, and needs to be noted. Reasons to follow, not to have spats with n'ar one. The one's who hit Bethel and like? Not the Dave kind, and opp. end, of the Calvinist spectrum.

Dave is on the 'helpful to consider and compare' end.

Dave is surrounded by 'Open Theists', for sure. No problem for me, his Calvinism, and you'd be hard-pressed to find him talking about it? Looking little, into Dave and his views might not... be self-described as; Reformed/Calvinist/Augustinian/Classic Theology etc.?

Where it might come into?

Church. Or, "God's strat.", nabbed from a book, more my theology.

Or, as Dave, right-to-say, 'Kingdom of God'. Interesting that Dave adopts for the traditional term. Albeit with a non-Trad./Conservative' understanding? An example of how he could go one or other, reckon is into both? Use 'KING',/ don't.
